Week 91 – Last stretch!

posted in: Compositing | 1

We’re back with our classic Wednesday night updates!

For the people who are new to this blog and didn’t know it yet, we post the latest news on the film every two weeks, generally along with a video or exclusive images. It’s been a while since the last update because we were so busy with the Kickstarter campaign, but we finally have enough time again. This week, we’re showing you an image from the beginning of the film, which Thomas just finished comping yesterday :

Now, you probably know this movie will be done this Spring 2014. For those who are wondering what that means exactly, here’s what’s left to do :

Animate 17 shots (David and Carl)
Composite 30 shots (Thomas)
Have Entropik compose and record the music (this january)
Supervise the sound design (which our friend Mark Donis will start working on very soon)
…and plenty of color calibration, the sound mastering and of course the final export

As you can see, there’s still a lot of work to do, but we’re thrilled to finally see this coming to an end! We’ll keep you up to date on the latest developments, and until then, Happy Halloween to everyone!

Words cannot describe how thankful we are for all of your support. We wouldn’t have gotten far if it wasn’t for your continuous help liking, sharing and tweeting our story throughout the last few weeks, and for that we feel very privileged. We’re very excited to see how much people enjoyed our teaser, and the best way to thank you all is to make sure that the final film fulfills all of your expectations!

Until then, stay tuned for more news about the film, we’ll start posting updates again in two weeks!

We honestly couldn’t have dreamed of anything better for this Kickstarter campaign. We now have everything we need to pay for the post-production, and we even cleared the debts we piled up while working on the film. With this stress off our shoulders, we can now focus on making this film the most awesome it can be. You’re the best!

Since we feel like celebrating, we’re offering to every backer who gave 25$ and more a free ticket for our film’s big launch party that will take place in Montreal, Canada in spring 2014 (date and place still to be determined). You can check out the details on our Kickstarter front page, which was updated with new info. If you have pledged less that 25$ and really want to come, you can upgrade your pledge to 25$ now and be sure to reserve your spot, or wait for later when we figure out where it’s going to be and how many people we can fit in one place. In any case, our backers will be the first to know if we have extra tickets to sell!

On another note, we just did an interview with Dominick Rabrun who does the Dom’s Sketch Cast on YouTube. Basically, we talk a bit about ourselves and our project and you can see him do a sketch of us at the same time. We also provided him with a couple of exclusive sequences from our film so it can be fun to watch even if you already know us!

By the way, they also wrote a great article about us on Cartoon Brew!

As we wrote on the front page, we won’t be adding any new stretch goal from this point, but you can still continue to back the project if you want and help us get this film to as many festivals as possible!

Again, thanks everyone for your support!

Kickstarter – One week later…

Hi everyone!

We have now reached more than three times our initial goal after just one week on our Kickstarter page! Once again, thank you for your continuous support.

Now that word has spread through most of our friends and relatives, we’re hoping this week to get more attention in the medias to bring a new flow of visitors to our Kickstarter page. We’ve sent this morning a press release to more than a hundred journalists. Branchez-vous and the Huffington Post have already published our story. Let’s hope more news websites start doing the same!

For those of you who might have missed it, we released last week a HD version of our teaser on our Vimeo page. It has already been featured on itsartmag, evermotion, softimage.tv and lesterbanks. Check it out if you want to see our teaser in its full glory!

One last thing worth mentionning is that the animation department of the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal, where we all studied, has made a very generous contribution of 1000$ last wednesday! Thanks again to all the department!

Stay tuned for more infos on the campaign, it’s still far from over!
